UW Alumnus Jeff Peters ‘83 Is Inducted into the 2023 Class of TAPPI Fellows

Jeff Peters ’83, tissue applications manager for BTG Americas, Inc., has been named to the 2023 Class of TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry) Fellows. He joined seven other TAPPI members who were also inducted in recognition of meritorious service to the association and the industry.

Peters is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Class of 1983) with a BS in chemical engineering. He started his career with Hercules and spent 23 years in a variety of positions. In addition to field sales, Peters also started the Hercules Tissue Applications group in 1994, managed the Americas tissue business and was the Global Tissue Marketing and Business Development Manager. He has published several tissue-related papers and has a patent related to developing strength in tissue.
Peters left the paper industry for a few years to test his entrepreneurial spirit and decided to come back to the tissue industry in 2009, working with BTG to start up their tissue applications group. He has been with BTG for 14 years and currently serves as their Tissue Applications Manager.

Peters has been an active member with TAPPI since joining. He is past co-chair of the Tissue Division and Yankee Dryer Safety Committee, co-chair for the Tissue 201 training sessions, Tissue 201 instructor and PaperCon/TissueCon/TAPPICon program committee member and Session Chair since 2013.

In his spare time, Peters enjoys waterskiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He has been happily married for 40 years to Julie, has two boys (married) and 10 grandchildren (five girls and five boys). He and Jill reside on a lake in Vicksburg (Kalamazoo), MI.
