Ian Chalgren to Retire

Ian Chalgren ’96 is retiring from American Family Insurance after 25 years serving as senior art director and designer. In that roll, he created several outstanding projects including the 400-page coffee table book Dare to Dream: The Remarkable Story of American Family Insurance and Let’s Talk About It: The Art, the Artist and the Racial Justice Movement on Madison’s State Street, a book which showcases the art painted on State Street storefronts after the George Floyd protests during the summer of 2020.
His design work has won local, national, and international awards.
After retirement, Ian plans to continue his passion for designing books with contracts in place at Marvel, Fantagraphics, Simon & Schuster, and others. He can be followed on Instagram.
