Irving Berlin, a Russian Jewish immigrant and one of the most successful songwriters in American history, composed “It's Dark on Observatory Hill” in 1934 at the age of 45. Over time, many different musicians recorded Berlin's song, including the Dorsey Brothers and Ozzie Nelson and his orchestra.
