James N. Long 1941–2024

James N. Long ’63, MA’64, PhD’71 has died. A three-time Badger grad, he received his PhD in Spanish literature from UW–Madison in 1971. He spent much of his career as a technical expert for the Social Security Administration, after a brief period as an instructor in Spanish and Spanish literature at UW–Milwaukee. He lived in Los Angeles for many years, moving to Portland, Oregon, in 2016. He died, with close friends in attendance and many who loved him, on May 7, 2024, in Milwaukie, Oregon, after a brief but aggressive final illness. Let now thy servant, James, depart in Peace.
