Dr. Walter F. Dabberdt Honored with the Insignia of Knight, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland

Alumnus of UW–Madison, Dr. Walter F. Dabberdt has been honored by the Embassy of Finland in Washington D.C. as Knight, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland, which is bestowed annually in recognition of civic and cultural contributions to the nation. Dr. Dabberdt was honored specifically for the knowhow and export of Finnish environmental technology.

Dr. Dabberdt has a long career in the field of meteorology. He has been advancing Finnish environmental technology since joining Vaisala in 2000. Dr. Dabberdt has helped Vaisala to partner with the world’s leading research facilities, especially in the U.S., to create technology that makes more accurate weather observations and measurements, which ultimately helps keep people safe. The joint research projects have led to commercial products, and has strengthened Vaisala’s role as a global leader in its field.
