Horton Group Names Dan Horton Agency President
The Horton Group announced that Dan Horton, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, was selected by the board of directors to assume the role of President effective January 1, 2018, and will continue to serve as Chief Sales Officer. In this position, Dan will be responsible for all insurance sales and client service operations.
“Dan’s appointment and transition into the role of president is an exciting milestone in our succession planning and the achievement of our mission to pass the Horton Group to future generations,” stated Glenn Horton, Chairman, and CEO. “It is the right time for Dan to become President. Dan has quietly worked in all areas of our business – starting in 2005 as a Client Service Representative and taking on a variety of service, sales and operational roles over the past decade. He has a passion for deploying new and innovative ways to serve clients as well as an ability to inspire, energize, and connect with employees, partners, and customers. Dan’s vision, strategy, and execution track record is what Horton needs as we enter our next chapter, which I am confident will be even more successful and exciting than our last.”
With nearly fifteen years in insurance, Dan’s career almost took a very different trajectory. Before joining Horton in 2005 on a part-time basis, Dan was pursuing a career in aviation as a pilot.
“Very quickly in my career, I had to make a crucial decision – to remain a pilot or to move into business and leadership. Both were passions, but I saw that there is an immense opportunity in the business. Horton has grown into one of the largest brokers in the country, with a reputation for our commitment to clients. There is an enormous opportunity that lies ahead for us. Leading the agency in this next chapter is both humbling and exciting; especially on the cusp of greater disruption in insurance. My focus is to accelerate our innovation and ensure the execution that our clients need from us. Our clients’ success will continue to drive us. I couldn’t be more honored to be a leader of this great company.”
Today, Horton is a nationally recognized insurance broker ranking as the 39th largest insurance brokers in the U.S. by Insurance Journal. The agency employs nearly 400 insurance professionals located in 13 offices throughout the Midwest and is a recognized leader in insurance, employee benefits, and risk advisory solutions.
Glenn, the Board of Directors and the agency team are more than confident in this new step. As leaders in the insurance, employee benefit and risk advisory solutions for middle-market companies, the Horton Group has seen how companies are unprepared to successfully pass on their business to the future. Horton is not only prepared for what it has in store for it today but more importantly, for its future.
