Another Badger Love Story for the Ages

Sue Normoyle ’80 and Jon Skattum ’80 began dating in 1978 after meeting at WLHA student radio station, where Jon was station manager and Sue was a Friday afternoon DJ. Upon graduation, Jon took a TV sports reporter job in Harrisburg, PA, and began a long career in TV sports, news, and IMAX film production. Meanwhile, Sue went into advertising sales at the Milwaukee Journal and had a career in newspapers, business development, and higher education, eventually retiring from George Mason University. Fast forward to 2017 when they reconnected and began email communications… In December 2018, Sue, living in Northern Virginia, accepted an invitation to visit Jon at his longtime Melbourne, FL, residence over the university holiday break. Discovering they had more in common in their 60s than they had in their 20s, they began long-distance dating. After two COVID-forced cancellations, Sue and Jon were finally married in Milwaukee on October 22, 2022. Wedding colors were black, red, and white. It was UW–Madison’s Homecoming weekend! They returned to live in Melbourne, Florida’s space coast.

Still devoted Wisconsin fans, Sue and Jon enjoy watching Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and UW Badger sports. Sue remains a Gold Package Green Bay Packer season-ticket holder.

“Good things happen to those who wait.”
