That’s right, there are Badgers (and 11,000 other college players) in the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game. Following a shift in the NCAA’s name, image, and likeness (NIL) policies in 2021, the game is the first to feature real-life student-athletes. With half of the UW’s roster appearing in the game, users can try their hand at leading Wisconsin to college football glory. Two Badgers who earned top-100 ratings in the game will be especially sought-after recruits: cornerback Ricardo Hallman x’26 and safety Hunter Wohler x’25. Camp Randall Stadium itself also earned a high ranking — the venue is rated the eighth hardest place to play due to its raucous crowds and fearsome atmosphere. Speaking of wild fans, gamers will also see Bucky. They won’t, however, hear House of Pain’s “Jump Around.” The developers didn’t acquire the rights to use it, so their virtual version is from an alternate universe. (See for yourself.) So, go ahead and have fun recruiting dream teams and dominating the college football playoffs, but remember that there’s no substitute for a real-life Badger game day.
