The Buckingham Club of the Twin Cities 2024 Cocktail Party

Buckingham Club

Thank you for making the Twin Cities’ inaugural Buckingham Club Cocktail Party such a sensational success! A total of 179 local Badgers gathered to reconnect with the university and each other. Together, we raised $62,750 for two powerful causes:

  • the Badger Fund, supporting UW athletics, and
  • the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s Research Fund, advancing critical research that will help UW–Madison and its network of collaborators to end this devastating disease.

In addition, thank you for extending a warm welcome to our featured speakers, Barbara Bendlin; Mike Hastings; and Chris McIntosh ’04, MS’19. Special thanks to Dale Nitschke ’84 and the Ovative Group at the Nordic for hosting!

We hope to see you at this event again next year. On, Wisconsin!

Special Guests

Barbara Bendlin, leader of the Research Education Component in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and director of the UW–Madison Neuroscience and Public Policy Program, shared details of the UW’s work to combat Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. This included insights into recent research aimed at better understanding different types of brain changes and standardizing diagnostic procedures to improve early detection and effective treatments.

Mike Hastings, head men’s hockey coach at UW–Madison, provided an update on the Kohl Center ice sheet project. He also highlighted the offseason gains of our players and the most recent successful recruiting cycle. In this upcoming season, the Badgers will face an expanded Big Ten, and we’re determined to welcome them with our toughest competition!

Chris McIntosh ’04, MS’19, director of athletics at UW–Madison, discussed the evolving landscape of college sports and the opportunities this presents for Badger athletics. He shared how the new indoor football practice facility will serve all student-athletes. Your support for Badger athletics is critical to the program’s success. Thank you!
