A New Member of the Wisconsin Congressional Delegation

Tony Wied (R-WI) is the newly elected representative for Wisconsin’s Eighth Congressional District, which encompasses Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Waupaca, and Winnebago Counties. Wied was raised in Green Bay and graduated from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and administration. His business degree allowed him to enter the gas station and convenience store market. Wied and his wife, Angela, ran Dino Stop gas stations and later opened Little Caesar’s restaurants in the area. In an interview with FOX 11, Wied says he went to St. Norbert because he “always lived in Brown County and never lived away from there.” Tony Wied sold his Dino Stop gas stations and is now turning his attention to Wisconsin politics. Wied was endorsed in his run for Congress by President Trump, and he aims to focus on the economy and reducing government spending to combat inflation.

A New Role for Former Congressman Duffy

The U.S. Senate confirmed Sean Duffy by a vote of 77 to 22 as the new secretary of transportation for the Trump administration. Duffy spent eight years as a Wisconsin congressman from 2011 to 2019. During his tenure, Duffy served on the House Committee on Financial Services and was chair of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance within the Committee on Oversight and Investigations. As the secretary of transportation, he says he plans to prioritize road safety, large construction projects, and reduction of red tape, which he believes impedes critical infrastructure projects. Duffy has also pledged to work with the Federal Aviation Administration in increasing the number of air traffic controllers and improving confidence in Boeing aircrafts.
