Our main philanthropic effort is the San Diego California Alumni Scholarship Fund (Fund #112901714 with the Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association). Throughout the year, our events and fundraising efforts support our chapter's operating budget, which we then use annually to maximize our contribution to the chapter scholarship fund.
Our Scholarship effort is two-fold:
- Seeking your support to grow our scholarship fund, and
- Awarding those funds—and the matches we earn from various sources—to those bright students from the San Diego region attending UW–Madison.
We greatly appreciate your support and promotion of both efforts.
Your Support
Scholarships are at the heart of our mission, and we can’t do it without your help. Giving to the San Diego California Alumni Scholarship Fund will help us send some of the area’s best and brightest to UW–Madison. All proceeds will go to deserving local students attending UW–Madison.
How to Apply
The Wisconsin Alumni Chapter Scholarship program provides financial awards to students attending UW-Madison from local chapter regions, including San Diego. No application is required. All students accepted to UW-Madison who are from a designated chapter region are eligible for consideration if they match the specific criteria indicated by the local alumni chapter. The chapter determines the award criteria and whether the award is one-time or recurring.
Students will be notified they are a recipient of a scholarship provided by a WAA chapter or group by receiving an award notification email from the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub (WiSH). After receiving the award notification, students will be able to see their scholarship as part of their financial aid offer in their MyUW Student Center.
In order to receive these scholarship award funds, recipients must first accept their award and then complete the required post-acceptance materials found in WiSH by the required deadline. Scholarship award funds will be applied directly to a student’s tuition bill.
