This Wisconsin Badger Alumna is 104 Years Strong!

At 104, Else Lou Daniels ’46 (a.k.a. “Dannie”) still has many memories of being at UW–Madison — especially since she was there for the 1941 NCAA Championship game when the Badgers took on Washington State, beating them 39–34 in the finals for their first and only (to date) NCAA title! Else had started her education at UW–Madison, but when WWII broke out, she married and started work to support the troops. She later returned, finishing those final 13 credit hours to graduate as Else Maas. She went on to be a top female New York Life agent in an industry that at that time was predominantly male — breaking the glass ceiling with her sales. A lover of the arts, Else was an exceptional pianist who continued to play by memory two hours each day until turning 99 and now enjoys participating in various senior social activities. She keeps abreast of world affairs (loves discussing what’s happening), enjoys calls and visits from her grandchildren, and now has her first great-grandchild, who may be a future Badger! On, Wisconsin!
