Bob Firnhaber ’57 passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 25. He had been in assisted living for many years following a stroke. He is survived by his wife, Sally Groves. Bob graduated from Wauwatosa (Wisconsin) High School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Class of 1957).
Upon graduation from the UW, he served a six-month tour of duty in the U.S. Army and upon discharge began a short stint with the Edsel Division of the Ford Motor Company. Following this, Bob joined Hallmark Cards in 1958, rising from assignments in sales and marketing to retire in 1998 as president of Hallmark Marketing Corporation.
After Bob’s retirement, he continued his volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, leaving as chairman of the board. He had also been chairman of the board of the American Jazz Museum and past president of the board for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre.

Paula Glocke Spindler ’95 was recently promoted to assistant vice president of brand management at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Paula received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the UW.
