Remembering David Allen Kortbein

David A. Kortbein ’70, of Marinette, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2019, at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area, surrounded by his family. He was born September 5, 1948, in Marinette to Harold and Myrtle (Johnson) Kortbein, residing in Marinette most of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Marinette High School and graduated in 1970 from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Dave married Karen Schuette on September 10, 1977, and together they had four children. Dave worked in Wausau at Marathon Electric for two years immediately after college. He then accepted a job at Marinette Marine Corporation as an electrical engineer and worked there for 45 years, retiring as chief electrical engineer in 2017.
