Patrick L. Green Awarded Distinguished University Professor

Patrick L. Green ’80, PhD’88 has been recognized as Distinguished University Professor at Ohio State University. The award is the highest faculty honor at the university and is awarded annually to up to six tenure-track professors who have demonstrated exceptional records in teaching, research, scholarly or creative work, and service. Dr. Green is internationally recognized for his pioneering research that has significantly advanced the understanding of human T-cell leukemia viruses (HTLV) and retroviruses. Green has improved our understanding of cancer-causing retroviruses and is applying his discoveries to the development of therapeutics and vaccines.
His sustained leadership as principal investigator of a major program project grant on retrovirus models of cancer has been continuously funded for 20 years by the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute and is a testament to his scientific creativity and visionary leadership.
Green is director of the Center for Retrovirus Research and a senior adviser to the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
