Death of 106-Year-Old Alumna

Mary Andersen Reinke ’41, age 106, passed away on January 5, 2025. She had married fellow Badger George Reinke and had a daughter, Unison, and a son, William. Mary grew up “on the farm” in Walworth County, Wis., and began her education in a one-room country school. Later, she went into town for high school and finished first in her Walworth High School graduating class, which provided her with a tuition scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. When it was time to leave home, her father drove her to the train station and she went off to Madison on her own. She graduated from the UW with a degree in home economics.
