Job Description
The Awards & Recognition committee supports the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA) mission by building an inclusive local community of UW alumni and supporters united by Badger pride, spirit, and the desire to advance UW-Madison's positive impact on the world. This committee is responsible for recognition the chapter gives to local alumni and oversees the guideline for award recipients. This committee works with chapter leadership and WAA to recognize and award local alumni (i.e. Badger of the Year) and recommends engagement opportunities of award recipients (Founders’ Day, Badger of the Year Reception, or other recognition event). Additionally, in coordination with the chapter president and WAA, this team may nominate local alumni for national awards (i.e. Forward under 40, Distinguished Alumni) as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand the WAA mission and purpose of alumni communities.
- Strong affinity to UW-Madison
- Commitment to create an inclusive Badger community
- Ability to maintain communications with WAA
- Ability to stay informed on WAA news, updates, and information through Badger Leaders
- Keep up to date on WAA award and recognition guidelines for Badger of the Year, Distinguished Alumni, Forward under 40, President’s Circle of Excellence, and Lifetime Achievement awards
- Submit all necessary paperwork and submission forms to WAA
- In coordination with Chapter President and WAA Staff, nominate and/or select recipients for chapter and WAA awards
- Ensure alignment with WAA is maintained through communications, engagement, and fundraising
- Work with chapter leadership and WAA staff as necessary to plan recognition events for meaningful award presentations

- Good interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm for the chapter and local Wisconsin Alumni
- Ability to maintain communication with the chapter board and WAA
- Previous event planning experience, a plus
- Organizational skills, a plus
- Communication skills, a plus
- Knowledge of current events in your community (as it pertains to Badgers) is helpful
