As a founding member of Broken Bow, I was intrigued by your answer given about the band to Diane and Dave Jewell, both '83. Broken Bow formed in the Lakeshore dorm area in spring 1976 and continued into the early '80s. As you pointed out, the only studio recording of Broken Bow was the vinyl LP Arrival, recorded in late '79/early '80 at Full Compass Sound Studios, where several of our contemporaries (e.g., Four Chairs No Waiting, Michael Reynolds Band) also recorded. To date, Arrival has not been released on CD. Unofficial recordings circulate among band members but there are no current plans for a commercial release.
In addition to those BB players mentioned in your reply, it is worth noting that original member Paul Brushwood continues his stellar banjo playing in the Milwaukee-based band, BlueGrace. His day job is dentist. Original drummer and percussionist Chip Donohue '77 still performs occasionally in the Milwaukee area. His day job is Director of the Center for Early Childhood Professional Development and Leadership at UW-Milwaukee. Concert sound engineer Adrian Weidmann x'79 continues to work in high-end audio production and now lives in Minnesota. Our good friend and country rock drummer extraordinaire, Rick Tacey, passed away in the '80s.
I still serve as a musical sideman, contributing guitar, bass, pedal steel, dobro, and banjo to a variety of bands based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC, area. My day job is Professor of Psychology at North Carolina State University.
Although there is nothing definite in the works, band members talk from time to time of a Broken Bow reunion. We are scattered geographically and otherwise occupied but there continues to be an interest in making it come together at some point.
